As someone who is curious about success in life, I have always been moved by books written to transform and change the way in which I look at the world. As a result of this curiosity, I have managed to read several books by different authors but not all writers on the subject of motivation, success, and personal development have imparted in me the same level of wisdom.
Some of the books are just titled success, while others have glowing topics that appear to be transforming but yet they have nothing to offer in making an impact on me and if not to others with the same level of hunger for greatness as that is in me.
Other books on the contrary, which are fewer than all the books published on the subject, have changed me, the very minute I set my eyes on the nuggets scribed by the authors.
I have come to note that there are writers who have touched me and other people. Some are still touching different people’s lives with the highest level of wisdom that no educational institution on this planet can offer.
Some of these authors are Dr Mike Murdock, the late Dr Myles Munroe, Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy among other great minds on leadership and success in particular.
As a published writer, magazine columnist, and reader myself, I can safely say Kudzi Webster Mucheuki will be and has already become part of the list that I mentioned above. He is a great motivational writer. The book that he has written, Confronting Mediocrity, is not just a mere book but something that is passion-driven to influence the subconscious mind of any aspiring successful person.
The book addresses a diverse audience of society. It intends to transform the lives of young people who are trying to discover who they are, what they want to do, and the possible path they may want intake in order to make it in life. It then gives them a hands-on approach that one can take to reach his or her destiny. It also speaks to all those that are finding it difficult in trying to stand out from the rest.
In terms of the age of the audience, the book is cutting edge, anyone with hunger and thirst for becoming among the great is accommodated in the book.
Like I have said, Kudzi gives a pragmatic approach to success, by careful quoting and compilation of examples from global and local histories of different great people who have made it in this life.
The author takes examples from the great book, The Bible in which he shared some great revelations that I have not experienced despite reading the great book several times, you might realize the same when you go through Confronting Mediocrity as well.
Kudzi has not only shared examples from the bible, the history of the world geniuses but he also took time to share his experiences in his journey to success and some of his accomplishments in his life.
Confronting Mediocrity is a must not miss book, if you are someone with a hunger to do greater exploits in this world. It defines mediocrity as the state of being average, not being the best or the worst. Wow isn’t this amazing?, I think it is.
In chapter 1 is titled, Mediocrity: The Jail Cell. Kudzi quotes one of my all-time favorite books of the bible and probably my favorite verse, Proverbs 22:29
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
He went on to show a deep revelation about laziness from this verse, something I did not even recognize despite reading the book countless times ever since I was in high school. He shows the link between laziness and mediocrity. He also notes that mediocrity will not get you noticed
Chapter 2, the writer then looks at how you can overcome mediocrity by acknowledging your own light or rather significance by not letting circumstances determine your fate. As I started reading chapter two, I thought I was reading from James Allen’s famous classic, “As a Man Thinketh”, the book talks about how man life is not determined by circumstances but how we think about ourselves, but I realized that the wisdom from this chapter is coming in the real-time and from ‘a Zimbabwean author’, not that Zimbabweans are not capable of writing such transforming inspiration, but it only shows an astonishing piece of work which has never been experienced before.
I can go on and on and end up rewriting every word of inspiration and wisdom that Kudzi has already shared but all I can I say you need to get a copy of this book. I bet your life will never be the same again. You may be someone who is close to giving up on your dream but this book will colonize you and make you reconsider taking on that dream and realize the fruits that lay in there.
The book is full of examples from great personalities such as that King David, Solomon, Apostle Paul, Bill gates, Usain Bolt, Dr. Strive Masiyiwa, Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi, Jackie Chan, and other examples that I did not mention, not because they are insignificant but I have chosen to summarize so that I cannot waste your time and give you a chance to grab your copy, start gracing yourself with what I prefer to call deepest levels of revelations on the subject of success.
The nuggets from this book are not mere idle talk but echoes of sentiments from pragmatic personnel with one thing in his mind, transforming and seeing people rising from being “nobody to being somebody”.
After carefully reading the stories in this book, I can guarantee you that you will rise from being “insignificant to becoming indispensable”. This is book is the one that I can read countless times without being bored because it’s a classic.
