In the modern days a girl and a boy remain preoccupied with his or her daily work. She or he has no time to enjoy the beauty of nature.
There has been a lot of improvement in the status of girls in Zimbabwe after the independence. Gradually, girls started to enjoy equality with boys in the society. Girls have all the rights and privileges in every area as possessed by boys. The constitution of Zimbabwe has given equal rights, privilege and freedom that are enjoyed by the boys for the years. Even after various exploitation against girls, they are now feeling much emancipated and free.
Almost half area and population in Zimbabwe is covered by the girls so the development of the country depends upon the status of both sex equally. We can imagine that time when 50% of the population was not given equal opportunity and rights and even restricted to perform many activities in the society.
Nowadays, girls are getting top positions in various fields of life such as some have been great political leaders, social reformers, entrepreneurs, business personalities, administrators etc.
Improvement in the status of girls changes social and economic status of the country. Status of girls in the Zimbabwean society is much better than the other girls in other developing countries.
In such a competitive world, Zimbabwean girls are being well conscious about their rights and privilege in the various fields. They are being more conscious about their professional career social, political, economic and educationally by following their all the responsibilities towards family.
Girls are actively participating in the democratic process and elections which is quite more impressive in enhancing their status. Girls’ participation in any area of work is increasing day by day than boys such as number of girl votes is increasing than boys voters on the days of polling.
Long ago our forefathers believed in educating boys only for the development of family and society. They said to educate girls is wasting money because eventually girls got married and stay with their in-laws and they believed girls must take care of their duties such as cooking, cleaning and bearing children but nowadays girls are equal to boys now they learn until they went to the university we now say the sky is the limit.
In industries they were boys and men wearing overalls working so hard doing mechanics, engineering and bus driving fork lifts and carrying heavy loads but now girls can do it. We are now the same in terms of working very hard for our country.
We used to call upon men or boys whenever we wanted firewood, herding cattle and carrying heavy luggage but now it’s our time we choose to stand up for ourselves and say
“GIRLS CAN TOO!”
