The way she shines just divulges her story, everything about her is full of splendor. Not a single day would go by without a thought of her beauty crossing people’s minds. The world was made complete the day she was born, like a sunflower she blossomed.

Not a single person would want to pass her by without glancing, her beauty outweighs it all. The way she will be carrying herself is just a round of applause,it will be as vivid as can ever be. Every bit of you might pause, making you think she has frozen time, but you would have just drowned in her hazel brown eyes fringing with dark lashes. Please, help me give thanks to the wonderful womb that carried her for the stressful, but at the same time thrilling, nine months. You can feel the struggle she will be going through but not to worry, for within her is the most beautiful creature you have ever seen.

Her round face, with short curly black hair and those freckles, with her extraordinarily long bony nose and rosebud mouth would be a delight to any artist. Her small ears with sparkling diamond earrings will be there to comfort upon hearing a sorrowful cry. Her cheeks always glimmering especially when she puts that contagious cheery smile of hers. Her skin flawless and like pearls, there really is complexity in complexion. Her body really is blessed by the Heavens, black or white, those little curves are an amusement to all. Only if she knew that that make-up always hides that naturally gorgeous face but to those too blessed, one would just drop dead. Every picture is perfect, she doesn’t need a filter.

She carries that positivity wherever she goes, making anyone merry when they are blue. Her absence at school is noticed by many as her intelligence inspires them all. Anyone would want to nectar her sweetness each day after the moment they notice it. Any man would be elated to make her his lady. Like a little bird, every morning she wakes up chirping sweet songs,a melody pure, true and strong. The way those soft palms are gently placed when one is scared or hurt just signifies how wonderful a person she is,how grateful everyone should be for her presence in their life. Those hands that hug when you accomplish something carry with a touch anyone wouldn’t definitely resist. That strong aroma filling the house when she places her skills on the stove will always make the news. The twenty-four hours definitely won’t be enough to spend with her.

Even through her darkest hours, when the world just steals away her energy, she just keeps breathing. She always looks for somebody to heal and hold, letting them know how she numbs all her pains. There is nobody in the world like her,she is priceless. She doesn’t let what people say define her because she is wise and strong. She has a powerful influence, stealing people’s hearts is her hobby. She listens without judgement, understands without pretension, speaks without prejudice and helps without entitlement, just a glimpse and her character is displayed. She likes straightforward people because lack of drama makes life so much easier. She dresses in a simple manner because she knows it is the keynote of all true elegance.

The day she dies, everyone will be miserable and doleful, tears streaming down their faces. Her life will be celebrated and dearly remembered.Despite all these efforts, gender based violence seems to shutter her world, destroying her status, the power to even see her self-worth. However,it is vital to promote the rights of women and reduce gender based violence whilst mitigating its harmful effects on its individuals in the communities.

All in all, women need respect, they are symbols of freedom. Each and every one of them deserves a chance to shine. We shouldn’t cage beauty in society’s mindset because all women are beautiful in their own unique ways so rather let us not make them seek approval but happiness.

She Is An Army: SEKAI IMBAYARWO-CHIKOSI (Vote4Me-#EssayContest)

Yes, to the normal eye she is nothing out of the ordinary. Just another middle-aged woman, struggling to bolster her waning sanity in a vicious world while grappling to strike a balance between being a good mother and devoted wife. In my eyes, and in the eyes of those who have had the
privilege to come across such a phenomenal woman, calling her ordinary would be nothing short of an insult.

She is an army. When I see my mother, I see an army. Not because she is muscular, sports ripped arms and a toned sixpack and brandishes ammunition and firearms. Neither is it because she is your typical Supergirl on a rush to save the world. Instead, it is because my mother is a fighter; ready for the war. She is all the superheroes ever created combined and more. Aged 49, my mother has successfully made it in the commercial world, emerging as one of the managers of a top-notch retail furniture shop. For a sector dominated by males, she has constantly fallen prey to chauvinistic behaviour. Instead of succumbing to the negativity, my mother has always picked herself up, trampling over her obstacles on the battlefield on her rise to the top like the fighter she is. She started from the bottom, and now she is there, at the top.

My mother is an army, wearing her pain and experiences as her armour. Each and every scar, both emotional and physical forms part of her network of trophies, creating a record of all the battles she has ever fought and won. Having been married at a relatively young age by today’s standards, she had to shape up because she could no longer ship out. Her father’s death, the person she had been closest to in her family was another heavy blow that threatened to send her wallowing in the pits of depression. Being the optimistic and bubbly woman, she did not allow these to be setbacks in her life, she was more than geared up to get it back on track.

Thirty years later, my mother has not only levelled up to be one of the strongest women I know but has reached such a standard of greatness, a
far cry from the timid girl she was when her journey as a mother began.
Just like an army, my mother has been a shield, reminiscent of a mother hen on a bid to protect her hatchlings from the wolves in sheep’s clothing ravaging the society. In a world where girl children are most vulnerable to exploitation and manipulation, my mother has made it her top priority to keep us safe. Never a day has passed without her going out of a way to ensure not only the security but comfortability of my two sisters and I. Bluntly put across, she is the word overprotective redefined. Although we feel that she invades our privacy at times, her intentions are good and I really would not want that to change somehow.

At the end of it all, my mother is a Queen fit for royalty, a role model I adore beyond words and the epitome of love, protection, strength. Without her, my life would be a war, hectic! Although life has dealt several blows to her as a way of throwing her off-track, I can proudly say my mother has conquered. Donning a crown over her head, wearing her pain like stilettos and clad in the armour of experiences learnt throughout her life, she is an army.

I Have Something To Tell You: DARYL CHIBANGE (Vote4Me-#EssayContest)

Your strength is compressed inside you. You fail to express it because someone is physically stronger, criticizing you, doubts your capability or you think you are too weak. The secret is, their strength is nothing compared to your capacity to withstand great force and pressure. You are a female lion and it’s time to unleash the greatness inside of you and let your roar be head. Strength is not only achieved by talking rather by ignoring the discrimination and walking towards your goal. The deepest fear is not that you are inadequate, rather it is that we are powerful beyond measure. The difference between a pessimist and an optimist is that a pessimist sees the difficult in every opportunity while an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficult. Argue for your limitations and sure enough they are yours. Patrol the towns with your head soaring above like an eagle and don’t let the enemy pull you down. Obstacles are what make challenges interesting therefore when an enemy lands on your back trying to pull you down, fly higher, and there will be too much oxygen for them to handle. The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Let your silence speak for you. Too often people under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all which have the potential to turn a life around. Unfortunately for them, and rather fortunately for you who possesses most of these attributes, you have the capability to prove them wrong. The world might be male dominated but you are there to provide the foundation of hope, justice, wisdom, grace, power and creativity. Life shrinks and expands in proportion to one’s courage. Proud, rich and handsome. Impossible features of a men without a woman. Your motherly impact is enough to build a thousand rich man. Your will to live as a woman is enough to prove your capacity. Where there’s a will there is a way. To find your way out of a dark cave, you look for the smallest ray of sunshine. Similarly look for the smallest ray of hope and you will light a thousand more for one candle is enough to spread light. How long will you suppress your talents and keep your dreams a secret? It is time to shout out to the whole world and show your presence. When the world throws challenges at you, don’t say why me, rather try me and hear me roar.

It is time to make the women independent in all aspects of live, be it mind, thoughts or decision making. It is time to bring equality in the social circle. It is quintessential to empower women so that our country can be a better place. Women giving birth to the babies meaning they shape the future of our country and child development. Instead of being treated as victims of male chauvinism, women need to be treated equally to men. The growing conscience is to accept women as individuals with the capability to make rational, educated and important decisions in families, societies and at large, the nation. Over the years women have shown and proven their ability to bring a new twist to the society and economy. They have proven and shown their greatness in many different ways. Why are we still trying to hold them back? Food for thought. Women empowerment should not only end with giving them opportunities to speak and share ideas, rather they should be taught some martial art skills for protecting themselves in cases such as domestic violence.

It is time to bring an interesting plot twist to the story of the world. Instead of a male dominated world, we bring in the concept of gender equality. It is time for women to live their dreams. As a women, you have what it takes. Don’t dream it, be it!
