Is there really more to a woman’s potential that what we decipher? If there is, what benefit can it be? Women themselves are not conscious of the faculties they possess and that can only altered by social stimulation in the form of women empowerment. The first legal step in the journey of women’s empowerment at global level is considered to have commenced in 1945. Empowering women is crucial to the health and social development
of families and communities. It is a bedrock on which potential exhibition lies.
Women have the capacity to accomplish more than what the society anticipates. They can only become of this aware of this through the help of the community. The community can assist by sponsoring and funding underprivileged girls’ education. This will not only avail the girl but everyone else benefits. As a well-known African proverb claims, “When
you educate a girl you educate a nation.” Education is a milestone of women empowerment because it enables them to respond to challenges. It is a foundation stone for the empowerment of women which develops the concept of participation. People can obtain access to information on issues that affect girls-for instance, child marriages. This knowledge can be used to put an end to unfair treatment of women which is an obstruction to their potential peek. As Dalai Lama once said, “With realization of one’s own potential and self confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.”
Once women unearth their veiled aptitude, they attain confidence to undertake day to day operations performed by men. This has a strong association with strengthening males. When men see women in higher positions they feel challenged. It stimulates competition between the two genders thereby more ideas are generated. Compiling these ideas can
build substantial transformations. When women are living fulfilled and productive lives, they are able help fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Role models are created as women start being recognized and partake in creating a better world. The youths are motivated to reach the marked standards set by women. According
Sonia Satomayor,”A role model in the flesh provides more inspiration; his or her very existence is confirmation of possibilities one may have every reason to doubt saying, ‘Yes, someone like me can do this.’
Lack of self-confidence is one of the many limitations that is keeping women from discovering their untamed capabilities. Like Sylvia Plath said in the Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath, “The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” A positive mind finds opportunity in everything. Given the opportunity, women can also put their creativity to use through venturing into entrepreneurship. Women can start businesses which can
generate income. This can contribute to their self-dependence hence elevating their social status and recognition. Some women are defined by their looks but the outer appearance is deceptive and a mere illusion that hides the inner reality. The society fails to see beyond the outward appearance thus wrecking women’s self-esteem. What should
really define an individual more than looks is their purpose, abilities and how they influence or make an impact on others.
There is more to a woman than what the community apprehends. It is a matter of giving them a window of opportunity to unveil their masked potential. Education plays a vital role in exhibiting what they can achieve. The recognition gives rise to role models. If women’s ideas are implemented through businesses it can make a difference as employment is created. As their businesses grow, they become self-dependent from the income they
earn thereby uplifting their social statuses. It is only when women’s intellectual vigor is given a chance to be unleashed will women live to their full potential.
