Ever Heard of KnanApparel Brand?
KnanApparel is a clothing brand founded by Nixon Canaan. Nixon is a lover of life and fashion enthusiast from Mutare with a dream to change the underwear world by a single clothing piece at a time. It has always been a norm that accountants are ‘geeks’ and ‘nerds’ with no fashion sense, and to inspire every young accountant out there that, there is more life than numbers and figures. That is why the clothing brand started.
As the clothing and fashion industry is diverse, KnanApparel saw the need to engage in a different direction, defying odds, and found the urge to produce a rare product in Zimbabwe and try to be as versatile and unique at the same time.
As a person who always wanted to do things differently from everyone, and given the influx of many different clothing brands in the country of late, there was a need for a fresh idea that will change the fashion industry for good. Underwear was the best way to express the peculiar mind of a young Zimbabwean.
In early 2021 there are arrangements to release a female range of underwear and swimwear. This will see the brand growing to cater all in and around Zimbabwe not neglecting beyond borders.
In early 2020, after thorough research, an opportunity presented itself. There is not a single locally manufactured underwear brand in the country of late and I had to resolute to grab the opportunity and grace the market with fresh local produce that would inspire everyone to be unique in their way.
We are locally producing high-quality underwear for men and we have a step forward by packaging the underwear in unique boxes with the will to differentiate the product from any other found locally. This is done with a mind to capture the market effortlessly.
The product is made in different sizes starting with Medium to 3XL. Plans to produce sizes for kids are in process, but as for the first batch, it will be of the ones mentioned above. These products will be packaged in a box of 2s and 4s depending on the preference of one. Different colors are available that entails blue, maroon, black, and grey. A box of two will be going for the US $12.00 and a box of 4 will be at $22.00. These products are of high quality which leaves room to breathe and still be comfortable. We guarantee everyone that once one gets a box they would want an extra one.
I leave you with the following statement: “Dare to Look Different and you will enjoy being different in unique underwear. “

How To Make Money With Instagram in 2021
Did you know Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of Instagram’s highest-paid celebrities? According to social media marketing firm Hopper HQ, the actor can charge advertisers approximately US$1 million for each sponsored post. Of course, he is a celebrity with over 189 million followers, and maybe you looking at your few thousand followers and wondering if you can have your slice of cake. You don’t have to really be worried about the number of followers on your Instagram as success is mainly more attributed to engagement, having a community, your influence, type of audience, etc.
You need to amass an audience around what you do and take advantage of your influence and reach to make money on Instagram. So we going to be talking on how best you can take advantage of your Instagram and earn a few bucks and will try as much as possible to contextualize the ways considering the Zimbabwean and regional audiences and markets.
Here are some local influencers you can always take a look at and find some inspiration from Comic Pastor, Nigel The Slick Pastor, Ray Vines, etc. and many others even from those who follow you or the ones you follow.
The trick is to show your personality rather than just your pictures this way you become authentic and remember authenticity is key on social media. Your success will also depend on your industry e.g. Fashion, Beauty, etc.
Sell Products & Services
You can use Instagram to sell your products e.g. clothes, makeup, food, etc. and you can also sell your services like consulting photography, and many others. You also use your influence, reach, and engagement to advertise and market your products. I have seen some guys even those with few followers succeeding in this method, so this might be your starting point if you want to make money on Instagram. So what are you waiting for, niche down, grow your brand, post relevantly, engage always, advertise and make a sell, Wow!
Do you have the voice, your audience can listen to? Have you amassed the power or influence that your followers can listen to? Do they see you as an expert or trend-setter. Maybe you just have the numbers and engagement, then you might consider sponsored posts as your source of revenue. According to Wikipedia, a sponsored post, also known as a promoted post, is a post to any community-driven notification-oriented website which is explicitly sponsored as an advertisement by a particular company in order to draw a large amount of popularity through user promotion and moderation to the most active or most viewed page on the website.
So on Instagram, a brand might pay you to post something about what they are selling, initiatives, campaigns, etc. Basically it’s all hinged on your reach and engagement type of audience, for example, if you have a vibrant and engaged diaspora community, money remittance companies might want to work with you to push their brand and business to your community, so you might not have many followers but your community might be the most relevant to the advertisers.
Earn your cut for every sale that comes through you, isn’t it so nice? You need to join affiliate programs so that you can add affiliate links to your Instagram and make a commission on the sales you generate. There are many affiliate programs that you can join like Amazon Affiliates, Shareasale, Shopify Affiliate, Clickbank, Awin, etc. but this is mainly dependent on your industry, audience, market and etc. You can always include your affiliate link in your bio and direct some posts to your affiliate link.
This seems to be the in-thing and one content creators can always take advantage of because Instagram rewards user accounts that are actively engaged with its tools, and right now, that’s IGTV and Instagram Live (which can be recorded and uploaded to IGTV). So you can have your tutorials, videos, etc. then linking them out to your shop, affiliate products, website, etc.
5 Easy Ways To Drive Traffic To Your Website
Having a website is one easy thing but getting traffic to your website is never easy and cheap, but did you know that you can always get free traffic to your website. It is not only just traffic that you need but you need qualified and rich traffic. Website owners need traffic for a variety of reasons ranging from increased reach, sales, leads, search engine optimization (SEO), etc. Having a website can be very rewarding to the business and can help you gather a wide range of information about your audience and customers but it all comes down to how well you use your website.
Google My Business
Google My Business has proved to be most effective for many businesses especially for local searches e.g. ‘Borehole Drilling Companies in Harare’. Google My Business is a free platform that allows businesses (even those without a strong web presence) to be included in and manage how they appear on Google Search and Maps. Google My Business comes with options for contact, location, address, map and directions, services, etc. Is your business listed on Google My Business? If not, it’s time to exploit this free and yet effective option. According to research by GoGulf, 46% of all searches on Google are seeking local information whereas 97% of search engine users searched online to find a local business.
Online Directories & Review Sites
Though there are other paid listings there are many other free online directories and others that might charge on other offerings and packages like Accommoservice, Yellow Pages Zimbabwe, The Directory, etc. which you can list your business on. These work also very well in driving traffic back to your website or certain web pages.
Content is king and context is queen, the two always go hand in hand. In content creation for your website, we are looking at an inbound marketing strategy which according to Hubspot is defined as, ‘a business methodology that attracts customers by creating valuable content and experiences tailored to them. While outbound marketing interrupts your audience with content they don’t always want, inbound marketing forms connections they are looking for and solves problems they already have.’
The main effective way will be through blogging, with videos and podcasts also proving effective too. You can effectively use the inbound content marketing strategy by first identifying your audience. Who are they? What are their pain points? What solutions are they looking for? What problems are they facing? This will be an important step in knowing the kind of content to create. The next step will be to do a Search Engine Optimisation audit and implement its findings.
Social Media:Organic Reach
Is your business on social media? Social media can be one powerful way of getting organic traffic back to your website, this can be done by optimizing your social media profile e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and your WhatsApp Business for the website or any other links to your site. Social media also works by sharing your blog posts, pages, and web content helping drive traffic back to the website. In 2017, Facebook had an algorithm update that lower the reach of posts containing links to low-quality web pages. (that predominantly copy and republish content from other sites without providing unique value.) According to Henry Franco, a brand marketing associate at HubSpot recommends two things regarding organic social media. “First, don’t spam your audience — it costs a user nothing to scroll past your post, and if you don’t offer them any value, that’s exactly what they’ll do. Know your audience, and craft content that speaks directly to them,” Franco says. “Second, stay active with community management. People love when brands like and reply to them — it’ll humanize your business, and keep people coming back for more content.”
Search Engine Optimisation
This is arguably one of the best strategies to get free qualified web traffic to your website but it’s not as easy as 1,2,3. It requires some mastery and expertise but you can get along with basic SEO tips and strategies. According to Wikipedia, Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of growing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine. SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results (known as “natural” or “organic” results) and excludes direct traffic and the purchase of paid placement. The most important step will be to do an SEO audit of your website. What are the most searched keywords on your website? What re their entry pages? What are the bounce rates and any other of interest? Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools properly set up for your website.
You also need to do On-Page SEO optimizing web page content for search engines and users and it includes internal links, URL, content, and title tags. On-Page SEO can also be complemented with Off-Page SEO which happens outside the website. Building backlinks is at the heart of off-page SEO and Google favours sites that demonstrate Expertise, Authority & Trust (E.A.T.). The links span from natural links (given without any action on the part of a page owner eg linking to your favourite site), manually built links (the process of actively trying to increase links to a website say by asking influencers or customers to add backlinks to your site) and lastly self-created links (such as adding a backlink in an online directory, forum, blog comment signature).
Why Every Business Needs A Content Marketing Strategy
It seems the customers have become so cunning that they are resisting or no longer paying attention to your adverts, not that adverts are no longer converting but there is a general dwindling return on investments on most adverts. You might be wondering why or is there a cheaper and effective way of doing it? Today I want to introduce something you could have been possibly doing all along without really realizing it but I just want to re-emphasize why you should start considering content marketing for your business?
Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. You could have been producing content all along for your business to give to your clients, audience, prospects, etc. but as long as that content cannot fall along that definition then you were not really doing content marketing. Yes, you were producing content, but not really doing content marketing. As long as your audience was not clearly defined and when it was not a systematic approach that is intended to drive profitable actions then you possibly losing out on the rich content marketing gold mine.
So now we going to be looking at some of the main reasons why you should consider content marketing, not that you should totally ditch adverts, No!!! These two should work hand in hand and remember that content is king and context is queen. Content marketing is worth considering and we going to be looking at the main reasons why you should consider content marketing.
Engage with your audience and clients
For your business, you have been possibly engaging with your customers and prospects on social media but most companies are really missing out and not putting enough content that instills engagement. Most of the posts are just flighting adverts and selling and to some, the least they can do is to offer a prize in a contestant and that will be the only time they get engagement from their audience and clients.
The question is, is that all? You have a lot of things that you can offer your clients. There are some discussions that your company should be leading. Let’s look at the talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), it’s coming or already there but the question is how many technological and industry players are leading the conversations. Customers have to go look for content or information somewhere when there is a technological firm that can answer or engage with them in these conversations.
I come from a surveying and engineering background and we can talk of new technologies that are transforming the profession like drones, Lidar, GPS, etc. that are challenging the traditional survey and these pose a lot of fear, opportunities, skepticism, threats, and many others to the students, teaching profession, clients, customers, and third-party players. Imagine if I start blogging, writing newspaper and magazine articles, videos and podcasts around that area. How much engagement would that generate? This is high-level engagement which if properly done right can be of great benefit in improving the technology, contextualization technologies, and solutions, answering to the problem and many others. The engagement can come from comments, post reviews, listeners’ comments and requests, questions from the audience, etc.
In this world, companies that are good at content creation and its proper marketing will win big and outsmart competitors and gaining that brand authority. Customers want to interact with a business or brand that answers their questions, addresses their fears and problems and this can be easily done by creating the rightful content. It’s not just about the number of followers on your fan page or social media but it all comes down to the engagement that goes around on your platform. I think you have seen some businesses with thousands if not million but with a paltry or zero engagement they post something but get zero or a few likes, retweets or comments which do not correlate to their following. It’s the rightful content for the rightful audience that drives engagement.
Are you struggling with questions? Are you struggling with generating and closing leads? Are you always met with the problem of having to always explain your business, services, and products to each and every prospect which often leads to you missing out some important information and also resulting in a lot of inconsistency? Imagine if each and every question your customer could possibly have was already answered on your website or in a blog post podcast or video.
By just referring your customers to your website, podcast, Youtube channel then most of their questions can be answered there and when they reaching you again you now on another lever in the sales funnel. By creating content for each and every stage of the sales funnel you help convert more and more people to actually make the final sale. Imagine a scenario where you into selling laptops or cellphones, then you create one video or blog post looking at something like, ‘What to consider when buying a phone?. This can look at some aspects like RAM, ROM and many others. Then on the next post or video, you can create something with the theme like, ‘Explaining your phone’s RAM and ROM’. These posts are each directing one to another back and forth. Then you can create another lead magnet or a survey on which readers can choose some preferred brands or ask them to sign up to request a discount coupon.
This acts as a double-edged sword of closing the sale in the now and also for your data mining activities. You now have your database which you can later use for your further marketing activities. Even if they fail to buy now, you can always close then in the future because you now have their data that might be location, preferred models and specs, budget, name, emails, phone numbers, etc. Along the buyer’s journey, you can always create content that might be personalized or automated emails to help close the deal or make a sale.
Take for example an email with resources or links detailing explaining your services and products that can be sent automatically after someone has signed up to your form or on requesting a call. Most of the customers are reluctant to buy or take so long because they are ill-informed or rather skeptical about your brand also because there isn’t enough content out there to prove your worth. If they google your name or business do they get adequate information about your brand or to help what they are looking for.
Build Lasting Relationships With Your Audience
Above all, you need to build that lasting relationship with your clients, customers, partners and prospects and one sure way of doing so is making sure that you stand out in this digital world is making sure you have the relevant information and answers for the on the rightful platforms. If most of them are always on Youtube, why not start considering producing content for them on Youtube. If they are on Linkedin or Facebook then the same and above all make sure your website is well resourced and well optimized for search. Imagine a scenario where every web search within your industry or product offering will somehow end up on your website.
Customers should come to a point where when they have a question they refer to your site or content. It will establish you as an expert within your industry and you can have more return customers, leads and new customers.
