It takes changing a lot of things to build your name in a more traction way. We need to drop our bad habits for the good ones, we need to throw away negative attitude for a positive attitude. We all have habits the good ones benefit us, and add joy and power to our lives while the bad ones do nothing but steal our peace and joy and prevent our success. We all fighting for a better tomorrow. But only a few succeed because of habit, attitude, and fear. What are you afraid of?
Breaking Our Bad Habits
What is a habit? How to change our habits?
A habit is something we do without even thinking about it. It is our usual manner of behaviour pattern acquired by frequent repetition. I have read that as much as 40 percent of everything we do is done merely from habit.
If you are reading this it is probably because you have formed a habit of frequent reading. Others who desperately need the information won’t get it simply because they have not formed a habit of reading. They probably say, “I hate to read.” If you repeatedly say you hate a thing you will be promoting the growth of that thing in you, It only makes it harder to do and less enjoyable. Promoting laziness.
Good habits can be developed and any bad habit can be broken through reception. The experts say that a habit can be formed or broken in thirty days so I am inviting you to give it a try and change your life by changing your habits. I can help you it’s impossible. At first, it may be difficult, but diligence and patience will eventually make you succeed. One of the reasons we don’t develop the good habits we say we want is because we live in a culture of instant gratification. We want everything now and don’t realize that many of the good things we want are attained just because we want them. Good habits come to those who are persistent and refuse to quit. Endurance is important.
Vince Lombardi said, “winning is a habit, unfortunately, so is losing. “He also said, “once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.” Make a decision right now what you can and will be a winner at forming any good habit you want to form and breaking any bad habit that you want to break. Never start a project with doubt and fear (I will explain on fear)that you won’t succeed. With God’s help, you can form good habits and break bad ones. You can become a better person by developing good habits and being a good person is setting a living history that’s building your name. Recently, a real simple magazine is asking it’s readers what habits they wanted to break actually the list is endless and unbearable I know but it’s possible. You should trust yourself, know the difference between good and bad habit/s
Now imagine trying to break them all at once. Do you think you’ll succeed? of course NO, I can pretty much assure you that you won’t. You will be too overwhelmed. On top of that, it takes concentration and effort to break a habit, and the older the habit, the more ingrained it is.
So the first key list them and choose a single habit that you want to overcome. If you start working to conquer a smaller habit, it will take less time to conquer it than a bigger one. Start small. Your victory will encourage you to tackle another habit, one that’s perhaps a bit harder to break. That victory will give you more enthusiasm and resolve to break the next
“Habit is a habit, and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time “Mark Twain
Working towards a change is much easier if we take one thing, one day at a time, and stick with it until we experience breakthroughs. Don’t ever be discouraged with yourself because you have not arrived at success, but instead be pleased that you are pressing towards it. Discouragement will only zap the strength you need and have to eventually succeed
What it means to have a good character
An ancient proverb declares, “A good name is more desirable than great riches, to be esteemed is better than silver or gold”(proverbs 22:1). Once caught, corrupt leaders who have lied, cheated, and stolen to get to the top can fully affirm the truth of this proverb. While many have fallen recently from higher and more public places than others, all suffer a great loss the loss of their good name or good character
“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it, the tree is the real thing.” -Abraham Lincoln
In over 10 years following the leadership series in a number of African countries and European countries I have concluded that most people lack integrity and character……this is the greatest obstacle to a leader’s success. Thomas Paine wrote, “Character is much easier kept than recovered. “Character is like preventive medicine it keeps us morally healthy so we are not prone to the maladies that develop with ethical violations.
In the dynamic drama of contemporary leadership playing on the world stage today, there are many characters who lack character. Moreover, the trail of history is littered with many would-be great men and women who harnessed the reins of power in various fields political, social, spiritual, and more. They wielded great influence and /control over the lives of others many felt the weight of material wealth and fame only to have it all disintegrate and blow away like dust in the wind because of their tragic deficiencies of character. Humanity is the compilation of all the positive things we do. It helps you and me to build a good name, our reputation is more important
Leaders of principle do not relinquish their values in the face of pressure to disregard their beliefs. Unfortunately, many leaders today are experts in compromise. They change their values based on what they think other people want them to do, not they genuinely believe is right. Moral compromise is different from the natural give and takes that occurs, for instance, when a group of people is discussing options for how to implement procedures or what methods to use to attain a certain goal. There is an important distinction between compromising one’s beliefs and making a concession on opinion, that a group can come to a consensus. In those circumstances, we are not to be uncompromising for its own sake, or for the purpose of making life hard for another individual. However, when moral issues are clearly at stake, we must steadfastly hold on to our values and ethical code. Building our name, good reputation.
Below are examples of specific moral standards that a leader might set:
- I will not lie in order to get trust and promotion or even to increase my profits
- I will treat my employees justly by giving them fair wages and ensuring the safety of their work environment
- I will uphold the value of human life
The words integrate and integrity are both derived from a Latin word integer meaning whole and entire. Having character means making a continual effort to integrate your thoughts, words, and actions so that you are one. A leader should be able to declare what I say, what I do, and who I am are the same. Achieving such consistency takes daily discipline. ….”building a good name”character requires daily maintenance we must keep vigil over our character
If we are to be principled leaders, our private life and our public life must be ethically one. This means we must be honest when no one else is watching us. When we say something in public, we must still mean what we said when we are in private. A person with integrity is the same person all the time, night or day, hot or cold in good times and in bad. A good name only boosts our confidence.
Principles of character won’t operate in our lives unless we apply them and a good name always takes what we do repeatedly.
May we all dedicate ourselves to a new beginning for character. …in our lives in our families, in our communities and in our nations .look an example of Nelson Mandela even a 2 year child learn from him though he’s no longer alive . It’s a good name that shows legacy.
