Let me start by telling you of a certain story of the classic egg, and bean coffee story, you may never look at a cup of coffee the some way again!!
A young woman told her mother how difficult things were for her, she did not know how she was going to make it and felt like giving up.
Her mother took her to the kitchen and filled three pots with water started boiling. In the first pot, she placed carrots, in the second she put eggs. And in the third, she placed coffee beans and left them all to boil.
In about twenty minutes, she turned off the burners, fished out the carrots, and placed them on a plate. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl, then she pulled the coffee out and placed it in a mug.
Turning to her daughter, she asked her “what do you see?” “Carrots, eggs, and coffee” her daughter replied. Her mother handed her some carrots, and they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed that the egg was now hard-boiled. Then the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma
Then the daughter asked, “what does all this mean?” Her mother said that each of these had faced some adversity_boiling water. But each reacted differently “Which one are you ?” She asked her daughter ” When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?”
“Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wait and become soft and lose my strength?” “Am I the egg that starts with an open heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a break-up, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff.
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water – the very circumstance that brings the pain. when the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean.
This lockdown you must choose to be different, choose not to settle for less, see beyond your imagination because you can turn adversities into stepping stones. I believe that if you began to look into things differently, you will get the best out of life.
You can’t think about problems every time and live a victorious life. There is an African proverb that says ” When there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do us no harm ” The biggest enemy we have in our lives is us, you are your best friend but also you can be your worst enemy how? Good question. You can be your worst enemy by not living your dreams, choosing to give the responsibility of your life to someone, blaming other people about why your life is stuck, complaining every time, you can’t overcome with that attitude.
In our minds lays two voices, the first one says ” you’re brilliant, you can start that business, you’re not a failure and all those possible thoughts why you can do it. but the second one says no it’s not possible, its too risky, you’re too weak, nobody has ever done that in your family”. These voices are always fighting and battling and guess which one wins the war “THE ONE YOU FEED THE MOST”!!!
Today choose not to be a carrot, choose not to be an egg, but instead be a coffee bean, which is not defined by obstacles but uses such situations to shine. You know God doesn’t let you into the darkness to make your life miserable but he does so because he knows that you’re star and he wants you to shine
The reason you’re still alive and reading this is because there’s still a chance for your dreams to come true. You were not put into this world to live a carrot life, you were not put into this world to live an egg’s life, but you were put into this world to live a life like a coffee bean
You may be saying oh Keegan I’m tired of living, I’m tired of life itself, I have tried so much this thing called life doesn’t just work I’m giving up but I’m here to tell you that don’t give up because you’ve not been living, you’ve been surviving. There’s a difference between living and surviving. People who are living don’t complain, they don’t get tired of life because there are truly living it.
Go and try this and you will be amazed at your life, you will begin to experience how great you are, and begin to live a life of a victor.
