EVERY successful person has a tale to tell and Trixxtah began his musical journey 5 years in music and the Midlands State University is still going despite a myriad of challenges along the way.
Born Norest Mabvurira is a musician who currently studying on a Bsc Honors degree in Sociology at Midlands State University. The undergraduate started his music in 2015 while doing his ordinary level. In 2016 he recorded his first project at Impact Studio and appreciates contemporary music.
“The journery has never been easy,” said Trixxtah. The young artist has been finding it difficult to airplay.Due to lack of resources it is difficult to break into the congested music market.
At first the young artist failed to get support from his family but he considers music as a fuel that drives him.
“It’s not easy to have people who actually support you when you are doing something full of criticism. To some music is more of ‘chinhu chevanhu vema drugs’,” Trixxtah emphasised.
There are stereotypes that have been created around music. Musicians are seen as drug addicts and bad influence owing to yesteryear sensations like Brenda Fasie and Michael Jackson who died because of drug abuse.
Althogh Trixxtah at first had challenges to get the support he has been supported by his uncle Kundai together with his sister Vini.
“Sifs is the most important figure as of now as he is helping me with management skills and building the Trixxtah Muzik brand,” said Trixxtah.
Trixxtah finds inspiration in Romain Virgo’s work.He is an artists he looks up to and Trixxtah aims to be better than Virgo.
The young artist’s biggest challenge is funding his music. It has been difficult for him to record songs and shooting videos.
Moreso, getting airplay is another challenge. Radio personalities attend to big stars and usually have no time for upcoming artists. Songs made in poor studios most of the time are of poor quality and cannot compete on the same level with big stars like Killer T, Freeman, and Enzo Ishall.
“I have only managed to do one show in 2016 and I was not paid for it”.
The MSU upcoming musician aspires to collaborate with artists like Mbeu ,Tocky Vibes and Ras Caleb.Trixxta sees his brand going global and colloborating with music giants on the international scene.
“To everyone out there, the road is never easy but know that ‘makata anoshura matero tichasvika’,”.
